Raising funds for AHC...

Donations can be sent to:

Fundraising is not difficult, and possibilities for fund raising do not need to be elaborate or expensive. Below is a list of possible activities that you can organize locally. If you have any other original suggestions for fund raising, please e-mail them to me so that I may include them here.

* Have a bake sale in conjunction with your school, church or other organization.

* Hold a car wash. Get kids from your child's school to volunteer to work.

* Sign up the Foundation with the local United Way and have co-workers donate. For more information, click United Way letter .

* Send a letter to friends, relatives, associates etc. describing AHC and our group. Tell them what your child and yourself go through and how important the research is. For a sample letter, click Fundraising letter .

* Have a bowl-a-thon, walk-a-thon, or some other "????-a-thon" that you can think of and get sponsors. For example, get a bunch of couples together for bowling. Have them get sponsors to pay a couple of cents per pin for three games. Have each couple pay $25 to cover bowling, shoes, refreshments, etc. Everyone has a fun evening and money is raised.

* Put out jars or cans at work or local business establishments for loose change. If you are creative you can create colorful pages to cover the jars. You might also want to go door-to-door to collect. The Foundation can send you some information to bring with you to explain AHC or you can create you own.

* If your state has a bottle deposit, collect cans through the school or work and redeem them for the deposits.

* Have a Tupperware sale with a portion of the proceeds going to the Foundation.

* Hold a raffle. Ask local businesses to donate goods and services - free dinners, grocery certificates, free haircuts, electronics, etc. Everything big and small! Local businesses are much more willing to donate "in kind" goods than cash. Since the prizes are free all the raffle proceeds are profits.

* Hold a crafts fair. If you know some people who like to make things, get together and share the profits.

* Contact local charitable groups or foundations. Many hold fund raisers and are looking for groups to donate to. Many will also assist you in a fund raising drive by providing volunteers and suggestions. For more information regarding contributions, donations, or fund raising, send an e-mail to Richard George.
